In the last decade, Williamsburg in Brooklyn has been a first stop for young people new to the city, just out of college. As they have grown up, the neighborhood has too, evolving from dive bars and movie rental joints to chic sushi restaurants and designer furniture emporiums.
Home to the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center, and Brooklyn International Film Festival's film program(presented in Brooklyn Museum's 460-seat, 10,000 square foot auditorium).
To the north of this is the separate community of Greenpoint. The hipster center of Williamsburg radiates from the strip of Bedford Avenue near the Bedford Avenue Station on the L train, the first stop from Manhattan.
Williamsburg is connected to the East Village and Lower East Side in Manhattan by the Williamsburg Bridge over the East River. Williamsburg is home to many ethnic groups and a thriving art community.
